About Thalassia: Thalassia is both the name of a great sparkling sea, and the Known World which surrounds it. The Thalassian region has much in common with our Mediterranean. A diverse mix of cultures share the sea’s bountiful shores, inhabiting sheer cliffs, fertile islands, and rolling hills. The focal point of the beginning of the story is he prosperous land of Corycia. This land has much in common with mythic Greece, but it is not a re-creation of that world. While Corycian minotaurs and snake-haired stheneans lend a visual flavor of Greek myth, Corycia has progressed beyond the level of Ancient Greece, reaching a level of development more akin to that of Rome or the late middle-ages.
